New Year Same Old Me

I have been a little quiet recently, though I am hoping to get back active here again. I need this space to share, laugh, vent and generally unload.

So Theo turned 3?! My god. That time has just flown by, he's becoming such a little character learning new things every day (though at this current moment he's finding it funny to spin in circles and fall down, so 🤷‍♀️). Though it hasn't been without its difficulties too, he still isn't talking, still has issues with his eating and he's behind in general. This gets to me, more than it should. When that nice lady/man/person says "hi" to Theo and he just smiles, they try saying something else to him and he just smiles or hides behind me - they then look questioningly at me. The polite people will just smile and say something like "Awww he's a shy one isn't he?" Then there is those other people, you've probably met them too making snide remarks or giving me funny looks. 🖕

Theo has "professionals" involved as most kids who have additional needs do. Some of these people he sees often some not so much.

Today we had a portage session, I don't know if it's because we've had a session already this week or because he's starting to trust the portage worker, but today he really interacted with her - it was amazing to see. He normally interacts but he's glued to me as he does, today he was holding her hand when we walked to kitchen and he sat by her playing with toys! She even heard his "talking" which only certain people actually get to hear. THIS IS HUGE! We were so proud and amazed. (Portage Worker is someone who comes to help with pre-school age children that have or may have SN or who are not meeting the 'usual' milestones.)

My son may not be at the same place your kid is/was at 3 but he's getting there in his own way. He's even picking up makaton which is amazing and is helping his communication. 😍

****Just to add that this powder to water Slime bath stuff, either we made it wrong or there is something weird with it but it was lumpy and because you add water to it to make it how the hell do you wash it off?! Baby wipes didn't get it off, if anything got baby wipe fluff stuck to my hands. Wash it under the taps? Yea, I tried that after wetwipes... It made it worse?! I had a slimey second skin on my hands!! In the end just towel dried my hands with the slimey coating and its all fine and off but my god.. Warning please?!****
